John Walter, Associate, Kansas State University
As a summer intern with Kennedy and Coe, I experienced a variety of work and enjoyed how involved I could be in projects from day one. Now that I'm a full time employee, I enjoy the people I work and interact with on a daily basis. The projects I work on challenge me and hold me accountable to continue developing professionally and increase my accounting expertise. I appreciate Kennedy and Coe's commitment to their employees and to the community. I've been involved in helping to build a Habitat house and am particitipating in a healthy living challenge for employees.
Cool story: I actually got a degree in construction before my degree in accounting and I've found a good fit in the construction industry group here at Kennedy and Coe, where I can apply both of my interests to one job.

I knew I wanted to pursue a career with Kennedy and Coe after my first summer internship here. While my classmates did trvial paperwork during interships elsewhere, I completed actual tax work and really experienced what a career with Kennedy and Coe would be. Since accepting and working as a full-time associate, I have been able to work with a wide range of clients, and the work I do challenges me to learn every day.

Everyone at Kennedy and Coe - from Member to Associate - seems to view what they do to help clients as a challenging reward as opposed to a chore. The cohesion that each group has within the firm also makes this a positive place to work. You know if you need help there is always someone there to lend a hand. As a new staff member, my advice to a recruit is to be open to anything. You will experience it all, from tax returns to estate planning to consulting, and that's just within the first month. I leave every day feeling like I've accomplished something, and I know that not everyone gets to say that about their job.
