My first year at Kennedy and Coe was a whirlwind of new and exciting experiences. Prior to joining the firm full time, I completed two tax season internships at Kennedy and Coe. Throughout my internships and first year I was exposed to multiple types of entities and industries. One of the unique aspects of this regional accounting firm is that they provide me the opportunity to work in both audit and tax, which has been extremely beneficial as I have transitioned from university life and have begun my new career.

My first week with the firm was filled with training at our learning center in Salina, KS, where I was introduced to all of the software programs that I now use on a daily basis, and also to the policies of the firm. After that week of training, the real on-the-job training began. I realized that people are not just boasting when they say we have the "best people" here at Kennedy and Coe. One of the most surprising aspects of working here is the atmosphere and the people with whom I work. People from every level have done their best to assist with any questions I had, whether it was an Associate or a Member, everyone was always willing to help.

 People are always wondering "what a typical day is like" for me. It's very tough to answer that, as no two days at Kennedy and Coe are exactly the same. In my first year here, I have prepared tax returns for almost every entity structure you can imagine, from corporations to partnerships, to individuals and estates. While tax returns and/or audits made up the majority of work I did in my first year, I was also exposed to financial statementcompilations, reviews and various consulting projects. I gained experience and insight into numerous industries and was able to meet several of the clients we serve. It is very rewarding, as a first year Associate, to be able to discuss concerns with the CEO of a multi-million dollar company. As you can see, working with Kennedy and Coe is both a challenging and rewarding experience, and is a great place to begin your new career!
