Donna Funk of Kennedy and Coe

Donna Funk loves her alma mater, the University of Kansas, so much that when KU was set to play in the 2008 NCAA basketball championship, she and two co-workers spontaneously hopped in a car and drove 14 hours to the game without tickets and a hotel room just to watch their team play. The Jayhawks won 83 to 79 in overtime, and Donna says it was the best game she's ever witnessed.

This enthusiasm for her sports team carries over to her work with Kennedy and Coe, LLC, where she has served as a CPA for more than 14 years, earning membership status in 2008. Donna leads the firm's biofuels practice, and she specializes in the areas of income tax credits, inventory management, entity structure/restructuring, cost segregation, multi-state taxation and state nexus issues.

Donna says the stereotype of an accountant being a noncreative and boring person are total myths disproved every day at Kennedy and Coe. She believes she works with some of the most creative people in the business and that teamwork is essential regardless of an accountant's location, specialty or years of experience.

In addition to KU athletics, Donna enjoys a good round of golf. Once she traveled to Bell Vista, Arkansas with 24 friends where they golfed for four solid days. This is her idea of a great vacation, quality time spent with friends.
