Local businesses form green nonprofitWICHITA - A group of business people has formed Go Green! Wichita, an organization that the group said will promote environmental awareness and work toward energy and natural resources conservation and recycling.
The organization will be formed as a nonprofit and expects to begin recruiting member companies in the fall.
Organizing members of the group include representatives from Kennedy and Coe, Fahnestock Plumbing HVAC and Electric, Syndeo Outsourcing, Associated Advertising, Via Christi Health System, ServiceMaster, Waste Connections, Cargill Meat Solutions, Kansas Leadership Center, Westar Energy, UMB Bank, Young Professionals of Wichita and Sedgwick County.
"This organization could allow us to bring awareness to those that may need it and serve as a conduit to the community, by giving examples of best practices and sharing good ideas," said George Fahnestock, CEO of Fahnestock Plumbing HVAC and Electric.
Kennedy and Coe principal Dixie Larson and marketing coordinator Candace Wilson developed the idea for Go Green! Wichita.
