The California Air Resources Board (CARB) finalized amendments to the Low Carbon Fuels Standard (LCFS) which became effective January 1, 2019.  One notable change within these amendments is the requirement to complete a third party LCFS validation of fuel pathway applications, as well as a third party LCFS verification of ongoing reporting of carbon intensity calculations and documentation.

K·Coe Isom is excited to announce that it has become CARB accredited and is now approved as a third-party verifier.

K·Coe’s sustainability team of Matt Armstrong, Dawn Buchanan, Donna Funk, and Zach Pinto have completed the accreditation training and testing required to become California Air Resources Board (CARB) accredited LCFS verifiers and are prepared to perform third party verification and validation.  Verifier accreditation training covered requirements for the production of ethanol, biodiesel, and dairy biomethane, among others.

“The details of this regulation are pretty complicated,” says Donna Funk, principal and biofuels industry leader at K·Coe Isom.  “The validation process is involved, and it’s clear that producers will want to get started right away with pre-verification steps, if they haven’t already.”
