With the deadline only a month away, all eligible producers are being advised to apply for their FSA Market Facilitation Program (MFP) payment immediately.  It’s important to note that as of now there has been no extension announced for the deadline of applying for MFP.

If applications are not submitted by December 6, 2019, you will not be eligible for payments and there is no appeal process.

Background information on eligibility and FSA payments:

Note: There is an adjusted gross income (AGI) exception of 75% from farming. To be eligible for payments, a person or legal entity must either:

  • have an average adjusted gross income for tax years 2015, 2016, and 2017 of less than $900,000; or
  • derive at least 75 percent of their adjusted gross income from farming or ranching.

This AGI exception also retroactively applies to 2018. If the producer did not apply in 2018 because they knew they were over the $900,000 AGI mark but did have 75% derived from farming/ranching, there is a process to apply for 2018 payments.

Update:  The Next Round of Payments

Regarding the next round of payments, details are expected to be announced soon (December timeframe) and payment will begin immediately following.
